It is a truly charming spot just on the outskirts of the Kłodzko Valley, one of the most beautiful regions of the south-western Poland. We invite you to visit Janowiec as well as to visit our website, submit your content and remarks and to participate in social activities. The village’s origin can be traced back to the year of 1260. From the second half of the 19th century on Janowiec was a quite popular place to visit for tourists and pilgrims, as it was recognized as a lovely and romantic countryside. It is also a crossroad of well known walking trails with stations of the Cross (the Calvary), the trail to the Łaszczowa Pass and the green touristic trail from Bardo town to Złoty Stok. There is also no better starting point to visit the nearby historical town and villages like Kamieniec Ząbkowicki, Srebrna Góra, Ząbkowice Śląskie and Kłodzko as well as numerous attractions of the Kłodzko Valley.
Janowiec seems to be just a tiny spot, not always marked on the map, but for us it is a small homeland, in which we’ve grown up and with which we identify ourselves. We want our village to be even more beautiful and impressive, that’s why we look after our houses and gardens, maintain green spaces and protect our local environment. All this to make “our spot on Earth” the perfect place for rest after all-day efforts.
Janowiec (German: Johnsbach) is a village in district of Bardo, Ząbkowice Śląskie County, Lower Silesian province, situated in south-western Poland. The houses in Janowiec are located at a height of 255-310 m above the sea level. The village was first mentioned in a papal scripture from 1260. Its name comes from the masculine first name “Jan” (John) and means “a village of Jan” or “Jan’s Creek”. From 1394 to 1810 Janowiec belonged to the Cistercian Order In Kamieniec Ząbkowicki.
After secularization of monastic orders by the state of Prussia in 1810, the estate was bought by the Queen of the Netherlands - Friederike Luise Wilhelmine. After her death the property was inherited by her daughter, Princess Marianne of Orange-Nassau, the later owner of the palace in Kamieniec Ząbkowicki. In 1845 the village had 39 houses and a population of 346 people. The manor in the lower part of Janowiec belonged to the Rathenau family. There are some original historical documents confirming, that two mines of alum were operative in the whereabouts in Janowiec in the 16th - 17th century. Before the World War II the village was a holiday village.
